Other Work
I believe that jewelry can be more than personal adornment - it can be decorative art as well. With this thought in mind, I decided to venture outside my "comfort zone" and create an art piece for the 2023 "Vision of Hues" Black History exhibit at the Nest Arts Factory in Bridgeport, CT.
The name of this piece is "Spiral Dance". The large handmade brass spiral is complemented by a brass wire neckpiece and seven strands of multi-colored beads of various materials including turquoise gemstones, brass, bone, recycled glass, seed beads and African trade beads. Each strand ends with either a handmade brass wire spiral or a cowrie shell charm.
The finished piece is mounted on an 11" x 36" painted wood board.
Special thanks to Jay Misencik and Geralene Valentine for the awesome final photo!
